Get Ready for SAT

Collegeboard.org has a practice SAT test.  Each of you should take this practice test!  Time it just like they tell you to!  It is fun and a great way to see how well you are going to do!

It's been a while!

Just reminding all exit level students that during the holiday's you need to be on the computer researching colleges!  When the first of the year comes, you need to be applying to colleges!  If you need help, contact myself or another teacher! 

Check deadlines!  Don't miss them!  Have a great holiday and work!

There are many FREE SAT tutorials on line.  Look for them, take them, get used to taking a timed test!  Come back and report what you find out!  We want to know!

Assignment: Ivy League College

Do a search answering the question, "What are Ivy League Colleges?" 
List Ivy League Colleges in the United States. 
Wish of these colleges would you attend and why?
Please make your answers in complete sentences.  Put thought into it!  After all, this is your life!

College Visits

READY FOR COLLEGE TOURS!    There will be sign up sheets for each college visit.  The list will have places for twenty students to sign up.  Twelve students will go on the trip, the other eight will be on stand-by.  Question is:  "Will this cost money?"  The answer:  Yes, there will be cost involved.  On day trips it will be the gas cost.  On overnight trips, it will be gas and hotel.  Please look at the college websites and decide if this is a college you would like to attend.  If that campus has something to offer you, please come with us for a visit!

College and Career Preparation

Are you ready to go out and become someone!  Maybe change your family tree!

This class is going to help you do just that!  Creating resumes, applications, practice college exams, college applications, the FASFA (you will learn what this is in class) and much, much more!

We will discuss your goals and ways to reach them!

This will be a high energy class!  Whether you want college, a career or both, this class will help get you there. 

We are going to learn study habits, how to search the net for what you want in life!  We will be going on field trips to businesses and colleges.

Guest speakers will be coming to our school to open your minds to possibilities!

No goal is too high if you have willing to work for it! 

Expectations:

·          Good attendance is mandatory

·         Participation is crucial

·         Opening your mind to possibilities is a must!

·         Hard work and dedication – this class is all about you! 

·         Investment in yourself is how you pass this class!

·         Walk the stage with your goals in hand! 

·         This will be a great class!

I saw the great college study prep books we have for our students this year.  We will be spending time on http://www.collegeboard.com/.  I can't wait for this year to start!  Painting the room, collecting college information - Can't Wait!
